McInnes: Rangers might sell Goldson if Souttar joins Ibrox this month
Derek McInnes has suggested that Rangers might sell Connor Goldson for a profit if they can land John Souttar this month from Hearts.
The Gers have already a pre-contract agreement with the player, but they are reportedly [The Scottish Sun] contemplating bringing him to the club now.
Souttar will join Rangers on a free transfer at the end of the season.

McInnes feels that it’s a good move for the defender who is largely seen as a potential replacement for Conor Goldson.
Hearts are expected to demand a ‘crazy’ fee [Daily Record] for their defender.
McInnes told The Scottish Mail (16 January; page 155): “Rangers is a good move for him, an opportunity to play for titles and his chances of becoming a permanent fixture in the national tea, will be enhanced by regular European football.
“From Rangers’ point of view, having Souttar on the way in gives Giovanni van Bronckhorst some comfort regarding the situation with Connor Goldson.
“The longer it goes, the less likely it seems that Goldson will sign a new contract and, if Rangers can get Souttar in now, it might allow them to turn a profit if an offer comes in for the Englishman before the deadline.”
Spot on
McInnes is absolutely spot on here.
Goldson has a contract at the club till the end of the season, and there’s no sign as of now that he is going to extend his stay at the club.
The fact that Rangers are actively trying to bring Souttar at the club this month suggests that the Gers could be willing to allow Goldson to leave if there’s a good offer on the table.

It’s a win-win situation for Rangers. The Scottish champions feel that Goldson has been a terrific player for the club and that the money invested in him is not wasted.
Even if they don’t find a potential buyer, Rangers would still be happy allowing to depart on a free transfer in the summer.
The Gers have money to spend and it remains to be seen if they utilise it on bringing Souttar to Ibrox this month.
