Rangers in pole position to agree John Soutter pre-contract in coming days
Rangers are now favourites to wrap up a pre-contract agreement with John Souttar within the coming days, according to Glasgow Evening Times journalist Chris Jack.
Writing on the newspaper’s website, Jack reports that Sheffield United and Blackburn had also been in the running to sign up the 25-year-old centre-back on a pre-contract basis as his deal at Hearts expires at the end of the season.
It is understood that while the Gers are closing in on a pre-contract agreement, they could even strike a late deal to sign Souttar this month.

Brilliant news
Rangers have done really well to fend off interest from south of the border to be able to sign Souttar.
The Hearts and Scotland ace has definitely been one of the best centre-backs in the Scottish Premiership this season – if not the best – and having him join the Gers is a huge boost.
It would be great if we could get him signed up this month.

Hearts will need to be convinced to sell the Scotland international for a fee but if they know he’s going in the summer already and his heart might not be in it for the rest of this season, they may as well let him go.
If he does join us this month then he can get used to the new system and playing or Giovanni van Bronckhorst while playing alongside the likes of Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun before their contracts end in the summer.
We’re really excited by Souttar’s arrival.
Let’s hope there’s some more to come this month to help us on our way to title number 56 and a spot in next season’s Champions League group stages.
