Michael Beale sends message to Rangers youngster Stephen Kelly after loan move

Stephen Kelly has joined English League Two side Salford City on Wednesday (12 January), Rangers have confirmed.

The 21-year-old has joined Salford on loan for the rest of the season.

Michael Beale has sent him a brilliant message on Twitter today after the move was confirmed.

Rangers

The Aston Villa coach tweeted: “Fantastic loan Stephen Kelly – good luck mate.”

Good move

It is indeed a good move for the Rangers youngster.

He previously enjoyed loan spells at Ayr United and Ross County, and now heads over the border for the first time in his career.

Salford are just four points off the play-offs with a game in hand, and Kelly will be looking to make an impact there.

This is obviously his biggest challenge so far as Salford gets decent coverage thanks to their owners, who are run by Manchester United’s class of 92.

Rangers

The next 2-3 years is ideal for his development. At Rangers, it’s hard for him to break into the star-studded side, with so many top-class midfielders around.

He needs games to boost his confidence, and a good loan spell here would be ideal for all parties.

Kelly is a fantastic young talent and exposure to English football will do a world of good for him.

In other Rangers news, a young star is set for a loan move to England after a call from a Premier League legend.
