Manager predicts PL future for Rangers star owing to Defoe connection
Rangers leading goal scorer Alfredo Morelos has been backed for a future in the English Premier League by former St. Johnstone boss Steve Lomas.
The Colombian won December’s Player of the Month award in the Scottish Premiership and his relationship with Jermain Defoe off the pitch has helped his transition to Scotland.
Lomas, who was teammates with Defoe when the 39-year-old was at West Ham, believes this is what will see Premier League clubs come sniffing for the 25-year-old.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Lomas said: “It can only be good for a young guy like Morelos to have worked so closely with Jermain and seen how he conducts himself.
“It’s been a long time since I shared a dressing room with the wee man but I still remember just how good a trainer he was.
“That can only be invaluable.
“Morelos is 25 now and the best thing he could do to extend his career is to look at what Jermain’s doing that keeps him playing at 39.
“We’ve seen over the last few weeks that Morelos seems to have knuckled down a wee bit and got himself into better shape and maybe that’s behind his return to form.
“It’s OK him being a big fish up in Scotland but if he wants to go to the next level and reach a stage like the Premier League then he needs to keep himself in top shape and there’s no one better to take inspiration from on that front than Jermain.”

Picking the Right Time
Morelos has long been tipped to be a Premier League striker in the future but no club has made a move as of yet for the Colombian.
It is surely only a matter of time before a club makes an approach and maybe it is soon the right time for the move to happen.
He is in his fifth year at Ibrox now having joined from Helsinki in 2017 and this summer may be the best chance the Light Blues have to cash in.
He would, of course, be a huge miss to the Rangers team and a player such as him is a very hard thing to replace but the money involved in selling him in the near future could benefit the club greatly.
In other Rangers news, a Premier League legend’s phone call has persuaded an Ibrox youngster to England on loan.
