Rangers goal machine Morelos wins SPFL player of the month for December
The Scottish Premiership player of the month for December has been awarded to Rangers star Alfredo Morelos after scoring four goals.
St. Mirren, St. Johnstone, Hearts and Dundee all saw ‘El Bufalo’ put the ball in the back of their own net during the final month of 2021, with just Dundee United keeping him out.
The Colombian could have gone on to score more if the winter break hadn’t been moved forward owing to the current COVID-19 restrictions in place in Scotland.
El Bufalo unleashed
By his own very high standards, Morelos would have been disappointed with his goal tally before December, having netted just four times in the previous four months.
He may have enjoyed a decent spell in the Europa League with three goals on a Thursday night but he would expect to be leading the way in the league.
Even having been less clinical than he has in previous years, he still is just one goal behind current Scottish Premiership top scorer Tony Watt (Motherwell).

The exact reason for his slow start isn’t immediately obvious and only he will truly know why he struggled to find a run of form.
Some of it could be attributed to the change over in manager when Steven Gerrard left Ibrox to join English Premier League side Aston Villa.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s arrival after Gerrard’s exit has seemed to reignite the 25-year-old and he is starting to look more like the lethal goal poacher we know and love.
In other Rangers news, an ex-Gers star wants the manager’s role at Ibrox, saying “I’m not scared”.
