John Souttar wants to join Rangers in January instead of the summer

Hearts defender John Souttar reportedly wants to join Rangers in January rather than sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of a summer switch.

Writing in the Daily Record, the Scottish Mail on Sunday’s chief football writer Scott McDermott claims that he will want an Ibrox switch this month if he rejects advances from Sheffield United and Blackburn.

Gers are understood to be ahead of the queue in the race to land the 25-year-old and will continue negotiations over the coming week.

Snap him up

Souttar is an exceptional player who would come to Ibrox highly recommended.

Given Connor Goldson’s uncertain future, it makes sense for the club to have a ready-made replacement and the Scotsman will be a fantastic addition.

Hopefully, the decisions continue as many expect them to this week and moving to Gers seems more tempting than going south of the border.

Thankfully, the clubs interested in him aren’t in the Premier League as players have their heads turned over playing in the English top flight.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst must reach out to the player himself and explain why a move to Ibrox could help take his career to the next level.

The SPFL is a league that Souttar understands himself and has gained plenty of years of experience playing in.

He should take to the Gers team like a fish to water and be a success here.

In other Rangers news, a ‘Fantastic’ Gers player may have played his final game for the club and his Ibrox exit seems set in stone
