Barry Ferguson makes transfer prediction on Nathan Patterson

Rangers sold Nathan Patterson to Everton earlier this week and Barry Ferguson has been left with mixed emotions.

While he is thrilled that the “special” young talent will get to play for one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, he is equally sad that he couldn’t play longer for Rangers.

The Bears sold him for a club-record fee that could rise to £16 million, and Ferguson is absolutely convinced that he will do well for the Toffees.

Ferguson has also made a little transfer prediction, saying he won’t be surprised if Patterson moves to a bigger club once again in the near future.

“A move worth as much as £16million for a 20-year-old? The chance to showcase his talents on the biggest stage in the world? Brilliant son. Go and relish every minute,” wrote the Ibrox legend for The Daily Record.

“And I have absolutely no doubt he will thrive in the Premier League. So much so it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if he’s moving on again in a year or so from now or even sooner. He’s that special.”

Bold prediction

Patterson is an exciting young player and it’s really unfortunate that he only managed a brief stay at Ibrox.

He has struggled for regular games at the club this season, but there’s no doubt about his immense potential and quality.

The 20-year-old has already made six appearances for the Scotland national team and has looked unfazed whenever he took the pitch.

At Rangers, Patterson’s development is obstructed by the presence of club skipper James Tavernier who plays in the right-back role.

Rangers got the best deal available for the youngster, and it will be interesting to see how he fares at his new club.

Clubs in the Premier League have heard about his talent, but now they will have a closer look at him now. If he impresses, then heavyweight Premier League clubs might show interest in him.

Patterson simply wants to play regular football and Everton can provide him with that opportunity, especially with Seamus Coleman entering the fag end of his career.

It seems Ferguson is convinced that the sky is the limit for Patterson and that he is destined to play a top Premier League club.
