Aston Villa eye Rangers duo Glen Kamara and Joe Aribo

Aston Villa are looking to complete a double swoop for Rangers duo Glen Kamara and Joe Aribo in the January transfer window, according to The Sun Scotland

The newspaper have reported on their website that the Bears are fearing the worst and are desperate for Steven Gerrard to wait until the summer.

A move for the pair might be difficult with Kamara having just signed an extension until 2025 and Aribo away at the African Cup of Nations.

Rangers will be desperate to keep hold of two of their key players to boost their consecutive title hopes.

Absolutely not

Rangers can’t afford to lose either player in January, never mind both.

These are two of the Bears stand out performers and they can’t just move them along with several others in the same window. Giovanni van Bronckhorst will find his squad stretched too thin.

It is understandable that Gerrard has a new job to do and he is trying to do it to the best of his ability but who does the former Rangers manager think he is? It seems as if he wants to rub salt in the wounds after leaving Ibrox.

As much as it would hurt us on the pitch, Kamara going wouldn’t be the end of the world financially. The midfielder was an absolute steal when signed from Dundee in 2019 for only £50,000.

If the Gers were to move him on having signed a new long-term deal, they would be able to charge what they want for him with the potential of huge profits that could be reinvested into the squad.
