Rangers handed boost to complete Xavi Simons signing from PSG
Paris St. Germain starlet and Rangers target Xavi Simons is reportedly unwilling to pen a contract extension and could leave for free in June.
According to French media outlet L’Equipe, the league leaders are at serious risk of losing the 18-year-old on a free.
His concerns are the lack of game time at the Parc des Princes and he could leave for a club where he gets regular minutes and a first-team role.
Rangers have been on the hunt for central midfielders and could do with the industry and raw talent of the former Barcelona youngster.
AS Diario reported at the start of December that Gers were keen on offering him a landing spot should he make up his mind and leave the Parc de Princes.
Now, it seems like he has decided and he could be tempted by a move to the Ibrox, either in January or in the summer.
PSG, who already seem destined to lose Kylian Mbappe on a free would not want to let someone like Simons leave without a transfer fee.
Simons is a Dutchman and he could be tempted by the fact that Giovanni van Brockhorst is at the helm at Rangers.
The 18-year-old surely would have watched GvB play as he was one of the better players of his generation.
It all depends on whether or not PSG can give them the assurances of playing time that could convince him to stay.
As things stand, he’s already got one foot out of the door.
