Reliable journalist says Rangers would ‘have to sell’ star player if £20million offer is submitted

Rangers star striker Alfredo Morelos is reportedly a transfer target in January for Premier League Newcastle United but journalist Chris Jack believes they would have to pay £20million for the Colombian.

Morelos has led the Rangers front line admirably since he joined the club from Helsinki in 2017 but his performances at Ibrox have been catching the eyes of scouts from across Europe [CBS Sports].

Glasgow Evening Times journalist Jack told Give Me Sport that while £20million would buy Morelos, he doesn’t think Newcastle will pay that much in January.

“If someone was to do £20million for Alfredo, I think at that level, you just have to sell,” Jack said, “Now I don’t think they’ll get £20million for Morelos, so that’s probably not going to happen.”

Time to sell

Someone with over 100 goals for the club will always be difficult to replace but maybe now is the time to cash in on Morelos’ form.

The 25-year-old is about to enter the peak of his career having improved year after year at Ibrox.

Not only has he become a more complete striker, but Steven Gerrard and now Giovanni van Bronckhorst have managed to quash the Colombian’s previously short temper which has seen him avoid the red cards he so often received upon first arriving in Scotland.

But this could be the best time to sell the Gers’ icon with clubs circling for his services.

If they can hold on to Morelos for the rest of the season, firing them to a second successive title, then they could see him go in the summer having fond memories of what he brought to the club and the legacy he left.

it would also be a chance for the next Morelos to appear and take the league by storm, whoever it may be.

In other Rangers news, this Gers youngster is delighted to be out on loan after tough start to the season.
