Rangers tipped to seal ‘groundbreaking’ Andreas Skov Olsen transfer after major £5m update

If Rangers sign Bologna winger Andreas Skov Olsen, it would be “groundbreaking for Scottish football”, according to journalist Josh Bunting.

The Islington Gazette reporter was responding to an update by Tutto Bologna Web, which says that the Gers have made a £5million bid to sign the 22-year-old Denmark international this month.

While Bunting admits he’s unsure about the veracity of the claim from Italy, he’s clearly excited by the prospect of Skov Olsen heading to Glasgow.

“I don’t know the details and if it’s true, [but if] Rangers sign Andreas Skov Olsen then wow, that’s actually groundbreaking for Scottish football,” said Bunting via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday morning.

“Shows that players really respect that league.

“Beautiful footballer, would fit the side and the way that they want to play so well.”

Sensational business

If we can sign Skov Olsen this month for just £5million then Ross Wilson and Gio van Bronckhorst will have played an absolute blinder.

The Dane only turned 21-years-of-age last month and while his stats at Bologna don’t stand out too much in terms of his goals and assists, he’s certainly someone for Gers fans to be excited about.

In 15 caps for Denmark, Skov Olsen has scored six times.

He’s not scored in 16 Serie A appearances, of which only five have been starts, for Bologna this term but has assisted two goals.

Skov Olsen is someone who’s very comfortable on the ball despite his height and is also good at cutting in from the right-hand side and having an impact in front of goal.

We could do with more options on the right-wing because Ianis Hagi and Fashion Sakala have both been played there mainly this season and both are more comfortable in other roles.

But Skov Olsen is an out-and-out right-winger who could really help make a difference to this side.

In other Rangers news, two more signings are expected at Ibrox this month after the done deal for James Sands.
