John Souttar wants to quit Hearts in January with Rangers in pursuit
John Souttar is keen to quit Hearts this month amid interest from Rangers, according to Sky Sports.
In an update on their Transfer Centre on Thursday [10:13am], Sky Sports say that Souttar, 25, has decided that “his future lies away from Tynecastle”.
The Scotland centre-back’s contract at Hearts expires in the summer, meaning that Rangers can attempt to sign him on a pre-contract deal this month ahead of a move in the summer.

However, it is understood that Souttar would rather move clubs before the transfer deadline on January 31, rather than wait until the end of the season.
Get him in
Rangers’ defence is going to need a makeover at some point – so why not start it this month if the right players are available?
Souttar has 173 Scottish Premiership appearances to his name, he’s been capped four times by Scotland and he’s approaching the prime of his career at the age of 25.
BBC Sportsound pundit Marvin Bartley, back in November, was quoted by Football Scotland saying that Rangers and Celtic should make a move to sign Souttar – and we agree.

Bartley feels as though Souttar would improve the Gers’ defence, saying:” “His positioning was fantastic and that’s what he does seem like – a magnet – because he’s in the right position at the right time.”
At times this season, our defence has been all over the place with Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun both having their struggles.
Both of those players are out of contract in the summer while Nikola Katic is currently out on loan, Filip Helander has had major injury issues and Jack Simpson doesn’t seem to be in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s plans.
Souttar would walk right into our starting line-up to play Aberdeen in two weeks’ time if he was signed right now so let’s not wait around to get beaten by clubs in England, the Light Blues need to go out there and seal this deal because they really could regret it.
In other Rangers news, Tom English has destroyed this pathetic Celtic fan theory about Nathan Patterson’s move to Everton.
