Rangers expected to make two more January signings after James Sands
Chris Jack expects Rangers to sign two players this month with a deal to sign New York City midfielder James Sands close to completion.
On Tuesday night, Jack reported on the Glasgow Evening Times that Sands, 21, is due to jet into Glasgow to undergo a medical with Rangers before joining on an 18-month loan deal that features an option for a permanent transfer.
After sharing that story on Twitter, the Glasgow Evening Times journalist was asked whether fans should expect other incomings at Ibrox in the January transfer window.
Jack said: ” A replacement for [Nathan] Patterson and a right-sided forward I would think.”
Good January
Rangers do not need to make dramatic improvements to their squad this month because the bulk of business is always best off being saved until the summer transfer window.
However, adding in a versatile player like Sands, who can also play as a centre-back and right-back, and a right-sided winger would see us well-equipped for the final stages of this season.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst definitely needs to sort out his central defensive options either this month or in the summer.

USA international Sands does add some depth at centre-back, as well as in the midfield, because Leon Balogun and Filip Helander have both had injury issues this term while the former, plus Connor Goldson, will be out contract in the summer.
On top of that, Nikola Katic is out on loan, Jack Simpson is seemingly out of favour and Calvin Bassey, who’s partnered Goldson at centre-back in recent fixtures, is naturally a left-back.
