Rangers defender Leon King pens new long-term deal
Rangers defender Leon King has signed a new long-term deal at Ibrox, the club have confirmed today.
The 17-year-old made two senior appearances last season and has been a familiar face in Giovanni van Bonckhorst’s matchday squads.
His contract was set to expire at the end of the season. The highly-rated young talent has now penned a long-term deal that will keep him at the club till 2024.

Right decision
King has impressed as a centre-back in the Rangers B team and was handed his debut by Steven Gerrard in November 2020 in the League Cup against Falkirk.
According to reports from The Athletic, clubs in England have registered concrete interest in signing him. From that perspective, it’s a brilliant move from the Gers to hand him a new deal.
Nathan Patterson left the club on Tuesday to join Everton, but Rangers have made sure they hold on to their other upcoming talent. He can also play as a right-back.

It’s a big investment made by the club as they see him as a player for the future. His game is expected to flourish as he enters his twenties.
It also shows the mentality of the player and Van Bronckhorst will appreciate that. He could have easily joined a club down south and but he wanted to establish himself in the first-team Rangers squad.
King has been training with the first-team squad for a while, but a loan move away from Ibrox in January can’t be ruled out.
In other Rangers news, the club are set to announce a major signing this week with a big development on the cards in the next 48 hours
