Aston Villa could give Rangers grace period for Glen Kamara move

Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard could give Rangers a grace period to sign their “top talent” Glen Kamara, according to reports from The Athletic.

The 26-year-old is reportedly one of the top priorities for Gerrard, with the Daily Record reporting earlier this month that the Premier League outfit have stepped their interest.

Kamara has a contract at the club till 2025, and the Ibrox club could be reluctant to sell him in January.

The Athletic report states:

“The difficulty Villa might have is that Kamara only recently signed a new contract at Ibrox, and Gerrard may also give his former club a grace period before returning back to poach their top talent.

“If that is the case then Kamara will certainly come back into the equation in the summer with Gerrard recently saying: “We’ve identified where we need some support and the targets that we are trying to bring in.”

Unlikely

Kamara would be perfect for Villa, but a move in January looks unlikely.

He has recently signed a new contract leaving the Gers in a strong position in the negotiations table if there’s an offer on the table.

Gerrard has said recently [31 December] that he would love to secure their main targets in January, if not, the club will surely make an attempt for them in summer.

Kamara joined Rangers in 2019 and he has established himself as one of the best holding midfielders in the Scottish Premiership.

He is a holding midfielder who keeps it simple in possession. Kamara doesn’t offer much in terms of attack, but his ball retention ability is simply outstanding.

On top of that, he’s very good in one v one situations. Rangers have already lost Nathan Patterson for a club-record fee, and unless they receive massive offers for their other star players, the chances of them leaving (including Kamara) is very slim.

In other Rangers news, a report has shared which players GvB will allow to leave Ibrox this month.
