Newcastle make Rangers ace Alfredo Morelos priority January target

Newcastle have made Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos their ‘most urgent target’ for the January transfer window, according to CBS Sports.

The report claims that he shared a fractured relationship with Steven Gerrard, but appears far more settled at the club under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

It’s also understood that Leicester and Everton are also keen on securing the 25-year-old’s services.

This will come as a major scare and shock to GvB as Morelos appears to have turned a new leaf under him.

The Colombian appeared to have his mind wandering away from Ibrox under Gerrard, but things appear a lot more different under the Dutchman.

In his last five league games, he has scored four goals and also registered a solitary assist.

While the lure of the Premier League may be enough in itself for players and managers to leave, Newcastle are a different ball game.

They’re owned by billionaires in the middle east and their takeover of Newcastle has made the club the richest in the Premier League.

The wages they can offer players like Morelos could even be up to five times what he’s making currently.

At 25, if the Colombian thinks he’s ready to make that step up in his career, a move to St. James’ Park in January could be a tempting proposition.

It remains to be seen if he still wants to stay at Ibrox or move to a side fighting relegation for a more lucrative paycheck.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have been handed a boost to complete a major January signing and £2m could seal the deal
