BT Sport pundit sends message to Nathan Patterson after Rangers-Everton switch confirmed

Alan Hutton has sent his best wishes to Nathan Patterson after the right-back left Rangers to join Everton on Tuesday.

As confirmed by the Gers’s official Twitter account, the 20-year-old Scotland international’s move to Goodison Park is a new record transfer at Ibrox.

After the move was confirmed, Patterson took to Instagram to thank Steven Gerrard and wish Giovanni van Bronckhorst all the best going forward with the Light Blues.

BT Sport pundit and ex-Gers right-back Hutton replied to Patterson’s post with a simple four-word message.

He said: “All the best, mate.”

Go and smash it, Nath

It’s not every often when you see a deal being a win for all parties involved.

In this case, the Gers are getting a lot of money for someone who wasn’t playing that often for them, Everton are getting a real star for the future and Patterson is giving himself to shine on a huge stage in the Premier League.

It’s good business for us, for them and for the player.

James Tavernier has the right-back slot locked down at Ibrox due to the fact he’s a constant goal threat from open play and set-pieces and is also the club’s captain.

Many Bears may say that Patterson was better than Tavernier and while defensively, he may have been, there was just no way that the captain could be axed and told to sit out of matches when he’s as required as he is.

Patterson should go and smash it down south with Everton.

Rafa Benitez is under a lot of pressure so there will be pressure on Patterson to perform but he’s got Seamus Coleman at Goodison Park to help him develop as a right-back and take over his mantle.

All the best, Patterson. We know you’ve got what it takes to shine in the Premier League.

In other Rangers news, David Edgar says the Gers will sign a “promising” replacement for Patterson.
