GvB has refused to rule out Rangers move for Andreas Skov Olsen

Rangers are exploring options to bolster their attacking areas in January, and they have earmarked Bologna winger Andreas Skov Olsen as a potential option.

Il Resto Del Carlino reported earlier in December that the Gers have made an approach about signing the Danish forward.

According to reports from The Scottish Daily Mail (01 January, printed edition; page 112), Giovanni van Bronckhorst “has refused to rule out a deal” for the 22-year-old winger.

He is a highly-talented player, with The Athletic journalist Jordan Campbell praising his “terrific” technical abilities.

More depth?

Van Bronckhorst has made a dream start at Rangers, winning seven league games in a row. He has made an unbeaten start, but there will be challenges going forward.

Rangers

The January window is vital for Rangers. The Gers are not expected to operate on a high transfer budget due to their financial problems, but at the same time, the new manager needs to work on improving the squad.

A close look at the players being linked with Rangers so far will indicate where the priorities lie for the Dutchman.

The likes of Xavi Simmons, Pablo Torre, and Albert Gudmundsson (The Scottish Daily Mail – page 108) are being linked with the Ibrox club in recent months. It indicates that Van Bronckhorst wants to bolster his midfield and attacking areas.

Skov Olsen is a right-sided winger. He has made 16 appearances in Serie A, managing two assists. He has got great dribbling skills and would bring different qualities to what Rangers already have.

He has a contract at the club till 2024, so Bologna are expected to demand a high transfer price for him. A loan move makes more sense.
