Rangers defender Jack Simpson face Jan exit amid Championship interest

Rangers could allow Jack Simpson to go out on loan in January having not featured at all under new boss Giovanni Van Bronckhorst.

Several English Championship clubs are monitoring the 25-year-old centre back as per Daily Record.

Having just two starts to his name and two cameo appearances from the bench this season, Simpson is completely out of favour at Ibrox.

Gers’ sporting director Ross Wilson will assess the defender’s options for the January window to ensure the best move is made.

Rotting

Simpson is a forgotten man in the Rangers dressing room. Van Bronckhorst is very unlikely to block a loan move from Englishman so he should throw himself at a move.

He would benefit massively from some game time which he isn’t getting whilst even struggling to make the squad in recent weeks at Ibrox.

Queens Park Rangers, Middlesbrough and Swansea City have all been monitoring the defender since early December with a loan deal in mind as per the Telegraph.

It is a no brainer for Simpson who has to do something different to force his way into the picture at Rangers.

A loan deal would be his best bet at turning his career around in Glasgow with the potential of coming back with minutes under his belt and some wind in his sails.

However, having fallen all the way to the bottom of the pecking order could force Simpson into a permanent deal as the centre back looks for consistent game time at a vital time in his career.
