Rangers must move quickly to sign John Souttar in January
Rangers should move quickly to sign John Souttar in January ahead of Blackburn Rovers.
This could be a massive transfer window for the Gers, and it can have a huge impact on their season.
While the performance on the pitch has been superb, the fragile financial condition means, Giovanni van Bronckhorst may have to sell some of his star players.
The likes of Glen Kamara and Joe Aribo could be targeted by Premier League clubs while the future of Connor Goldson still remains unclear.
According to reports from The Daily Record, Blackburn have opened pre-contract discussions with the Scotland international as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
Steven Gerrard was keen to sign him at Rangers, and it seems Van Bronckhorst is also interested in getting his signature.
Last month (17 November) the Scottish Daily Mail claimed that Souttar has been placed on a list of available options even before Van Bronckhorst was made the new manager.
Souttar is a “fantastic” defender and Rangers must not miss out on him.
The Bears have made a solid start under the Dutchman, and it’s imperative for them to add quality players to their squad and tighten their grip on the title race.
With that in mind, Rangers must pay what’s required and get the deal done ahead of Blackburn.
Souttar won’t need to be given any introduction of what it means to play for Rangers – the lure of lifting titles and Champions League football next season should be enough.
With Goldson’s future still not resolved, it’s high time the Scottish champions sign a quality defender who is familiar with the league.
In other Rangers news, a young star could be set to leave Rangers for the Premier League.
