Rangers’ Greatest

No manager has achieved such great highs with Rangers for decades as Smith did during his two spells at Ibrox.

His first period at the club between 1991 and 1998 saw seven league titles won in succession before he left to join Everton.

He re-joined Rangers in 2007 having been in charge of Scotland for three years and he went on to earn yet more accolades.

Three more consecutive league titles between 2007 and 2011 saw Smith end his managerial career in stunning style.

Domestic success also came in the shape of five Scottish Cups and six Scottish League Cups which went a long way to earning him his honourary doctorate from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2012.

He even took Rangers to new heights in Europe, reaching the 2007-08 UEFA Cup final, where they were beaten by Zenit St. Petersburg in Manchester.

He was even linked with a return to management as recently as 2018 with the national team but Smith opted against coming back to the dugout.

In other Rangers news, there’s a possibility that their won’t be a full house for the old firm derby in February.
