Ronald de Boer gives verdict on GvB start to life as Rangers boss
Rangers legend Ronald de Boer has hailed Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s ‘quite spectacular’ start to life as Rangers manager.
The Gers extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table to six points following a ninth straight league win, with seven of those coming under new boss GvB.
They’ve also secured progression into the knockout stages of the Europa League too and De Boer believes their form has been ‘amazing’ since the new manager took charge.

Speaking in an interview with Sunday Post, the former treble winner at Ibrox couldn’t speak highly enough of his former international teammate.
“Of course, there was already a connection between Rangers and Giovanni. He played for the club, and had a very successful three-year period before moving on to Arsenal then Barcelona.
“So he knows about the club, the demands that would be put on him, he knows the city and he knows the passion of the supporters.
“That took away the element of surprise from many things when he took on the role, and that is a good position to be in.
“He has also had an amazing start to life at Rangers, quite spectacular. He has won six out of six league games, and kept five clean sheets in the process.
“In Europe, he had to make sure the club qualified for the Europa League knock-out stages and they did by beating Sparta Prague 2-0. They also got a creditable 1-1 draw in Lyon.

“They now have a very exciting tie against Borussia Dortmund to look forward to in February.
“Before that, the focus has to be on the league, and making sure they keep going and stay top of the table.”
Spectacular
Spectacular is the perfect word to use to describe Rangers right now.
The stats reeled off by de Boer in his interview can now have an extra game added to each tally, after a dominant Boxing Day victory too.
GvB has managed to turn the squad into a more possession based side with a slightly different formation from Steven Gerrard’s time in charge, but maintained the level of performances to ensure results weren’t affected.
They go into the upcoming Old Firm derby in picture perfect form both defensively and in an attacking sense, so fans will be buzzing heading into the new year.
Van Bronckhorst has been an excellent appointment and earned the trust of the fans who were unhappy about the departure of Gerrard last month.
If he can keep it going, there is no reason why Rangers won’t be crowned champions once again and make a great run for it in Europe too.
