View: Rangers winger Brandon Barker could leave Ibrox

Rangers winger Brandon Barker could leave the club on a free transfer next summer.

According to reports from the Scottish Sun, he has got no future at the club.

The 25-year-old is keen on first-team football and a move away from Ibrox makes sense. It will be a good move for his career.

Barker has made just one matchday squad all year in the League Cup against Livingston.

He joined Gers in 2019 from Manchester City and has made only 26 appearances thus far.

He was once tipped to be the next big star, but when he will look back at his Rangers spell, he will surely feel it as time wasted.

According to a report from The Athletic, Barker found it hard under the intense pressure at Rangers. There’s no denying his quality, but he seldom managed to replicate it on the pitch.

The winger, who was a regular on loan at Oxford in League One last season, is facing an uncertain future at Ibrox.

His contract will expire next summer, and chances are high that Rangers won’t be offering him a new deal any time soon.

At his age, he should be aiming for regular games, but Rangers cannot provide him with that opportunity.

It is ideal for him to move elsewhere. He was a gem of a talent at the Etihad academy and there’s no reason to believe why he can’t be a success elsewhere.

Rangers could lose a host of players next summer on a free transfer.

Alan McGregor, the veteran goalkeeper, is out of contract and he could retire at the end of the season.

Andy Firth is another player who has struggled for regular game time. He is a popular figure at the club but his future looks to be away from Ibrox.

Conor Goldson has only a few months remaining on his current deal, and he is yet to agree to a new contract at the club.

The likes of Steven Davis, Leon Balogun, and  Scott Arfield are also facing uncertain futures at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, the club want to sign a ‘Fantastic’ England international who is 28, and could get him to sign a pre-contract once the January window opens on 1st.
