Sky Sports man Andrew Dickson impressed by Rangers stars against St. Mirren

Rangers headed into the winter break six points clear at the top of the Premiership table after a 2-0 win over St. Mirren on Boxing Day.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side got the job done in the first-half via goals from Scott Wright and Alfredo Morelos, and Gers-mad journalist Andrew Dickson, who freelances for Sky Sports, took to his personal Twitter account to single out six players for praises.

It was a comfortable victory at Ibrox for the Premiership giants, and heading into the break on the back of such would do the players’ morale a lot of good.

Dickson said: “Thought Wright was terrific. Credit to Scott Arfield and Fashion Sakala who brought extra energy when introduced.

“Brilliant track back and break forward right at the end from James Tavernier.

“Joe Aribo, his usual influential self, and Glen Kamara very tidy when he had to be.

“Great to have so many positives.”

Top performers

Rangers players impressed against a St. Mirren side they were favourites to beat due to the covid-19 situation of the visitors, and it is hard to point to anyone who was below par.

They have all impressed and improved significantly under GvB, and that is good to see.

While things started well under erstwhile boss Steven Gerrard at the beginning of 2021-22, a lot of the players suffered a sharp dip in form towards the end of his tenure.

However, they have all been rejuvenated under the Dutchman, and long may it continue.

The break will give them a chance to recharge their batteries, and the new boss will have an opportunity to have a mini pre-season preparation with the squad.

Rangers have impressed despite very few weeks of management under Van Bronckhorst, and there is still a lot of room for improvement.

They can come out of the break a better squad, and should they manage to keep up this current momentum when action resumes, greater things surely lie ahead.
