Rangers want majority of the fee for Patterson upfront as Everton eye move

Rangers right-back Nathan Patterson is keen on leaving Ibrox in January amid renewed interest from Everton, according to El Bobble.

The reliable Toffees insider – followed on Twitter by The Times journalist Paul Joyce – posted the update on their account Tuesday’s night (21 December), confirming earlier reports and providing additional info.

Everton wanted the Scotland international, 20, in the summer, but their two bids were knocked back by Rangers, and they plan to return with an improved one.

El Bobble said: “As some reports suggest, Everton have reignited last summer’s interest in Nathan Patterson from Scottish club Rangers.

“The player is keen on the move.

“The issue now lies with Everton to find a solution regarding a fee, with Rangers wanting the majority of the fee upfront.”

Wow

This should not come as a surprise as the youngster is most likely frustrated with watching most games from the bench.

Patterson has only started twice in the Scottish Premiership in 2021-22, with skipper James Tavernier firmly ahead of him in the pecking order.

Rangers also appear ready to cash in on him, and from the look of things, they are not willing to stand in his way if he wants out.

Everton boss Rafa Benitez is a fan without a doubt, and that he is now preparing a third bid speaks volumes.

Erstwhile Gers boss Steven Gerrard dubbed Patterson “fantastic” in October during one of Scotland’s international games, and it was clear to see why he was not keen to lose him in the summer.

Rangers

It appears that Giovanni van Bronckhorst has not been able to convince him to stay, and Rangers now want the best deal for their academy graduate.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks, but the fans would love to see the club hold on to one of their own.

That is not likely possible again as he wants to move to the Premier League and play more regularly, and that opportunity could be available at Goodison Park.
