Andy Robertson: I’m glad Steven Gerrard has left Rangers
Scotland captain and Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has admitted he was pleased to see Steven Gerrard’s time at Rangers come to an end.
After nearly three and a half years at the helm in Glasgow, Gerrard departed for Premier League club Aston Villa in November.
The Englishman had led the Bears to their first Scottish Premiership title in 10 years, ending Celtic’s dominance in the process.

Robertson, a lifelong Bhoys supporter, joked in an interview that Gerrard’s exit was a welcome sight.
“I’m just glad he’s away from Rangers,” the Liverpool left-back told the Mirror.
“He’s already proven that he’s a fantastic manager even though he’s very early into his managerial career, and he’s already achieved a lot.
“At Rangers he transformed them into a team that wins, he took the title off Celtic, and now he’s got a really good job at Villa, a huge club with a great squad. He’s taken to the Premier League like a duck to water.”

Blessing
Robertson may joke, but in fact Gerrard’s departure from Ibrox is looking more and more like a blessing with each passing game.
That’s not to say that Rangers were in bad shape when the former England international left; they were four points clear at the top of the table after all.
However, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has made a better start to life in Glasgow than anyone could have anticipated and the squad seems to have been given a new lease of life by the arrival of the Dutchman.
The Bears have won six of their seven games under van Bronckhorst, with the other ending in a very creditable 1-1 draw against Lyon in the Europa League.
The former Feyenoord boss became the first Ibrox manager to win his first four matches in charge in 52 years.
Rangers have also kept five clean sheets in the seven games since his arrival, compared to just one in the last seven matches of Gerrard’s reign.
In other Rangers news, a German legend has delivered his brutal verdict on the club’s Europa League tie against Borussia Dortmund.
