Ianis Hagi starts, Fashion Sakala drops out – Rangers confirm starting XI v St Johnstone
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has made one change to the Rangers starting line-up to play against St Johnstone at Ibrox on Wednesday night.
Ahead of kick-off, the Gers announced on their official Twitter account that forward Fashion Sakala has been axed to the bench.
Ianis Hagi has come in to replace the 24-year-old Zambian in the only change from the team that beat Hearts on Sunday.
Interestingly, defensive outcast Jack Simpson is back in the matchday squad.
He starts on the bench after failing to make the last five squads in the Scottish Premiership.
No complacency
Rangers cannot drop points in this match.
Steven Gerrard struggled to get consistently impressive performances out of this Rangers side but since van Bronckhorst made his debut in the dugout as manager, there hasn’t been one game where fans have walked away and thought, ‘that wasn’t good enough’.
St Johnstone surprisingly find themselves bottom of the Scottish Premiership and Rangers shouldn’t be lulled into a false sense of security when they take on last season’s cup double winners.

They have the potential to cause a shock at Ibrox and we cannot allow complacency to set in.
But, with that in mind, we still expect a win against the Saints at Ibrox.
Van Bronckhorst has a number of players who are bang in form, especially Joe Aribo.
The Nigeria international, who we may lose due to the Africa Cup of Nations next month, has been in stunning form and is key to any victory.
In other Rangers news, Sky Sports have reported if the Gers’ clash with Dundee United will go ahead amid a new COVID update.
