Giovanni van Bronckhorst shares when Rangers duo Roofe and Jack can return from injury

Rangers striker Kemar Roofe won’t feature against St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday after picking up an injury.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirmed today (Tuesday) in his press conference that the 28-year-old has had a “setback” but he is likely to return before the winter break.

Roofe took to Instagram to confirm an injury “setback” after missing the Gers’ 2-0 win over Hearts on Sunday.

Ahead of the match, the Rangers boss has said today (14 December): “Kemar (Roofe) has a setback and will hopefully return before the winter break.”

Ryan Jack is also currently out injured and will miss the St Johnstone game. The midfielder was expected to feature against Lyon in the Europa League, but he has picked up an injury.

Van Bronckhorst has suggested that he is expected to remain on the sidelines for a bit longer period.

He added: “Ryan (Jack) we hope to have him back fully fit after the winter break. No fresh injuries from the match on Sunday.”

Confidence

Losing Roofe is a major blow heading into a hectic festive schedule, but Rangers will feel confident with the form they are in.

The Dutchman has made a dream start to his managerial reign at Ibrox, managing five wins and a draw already.

Rangers

They are up against the bottom-placed St Johnstone, and they should be confident of picking up all three points from the match.

Roofe, hailed as “genius” by Steven Gerrard last season, has been in brilliant form this season and the Gers will be weaker without him as an option, although Alfredo Morelos appears to have returned to his best form.

The former Leeds striker has netted 10 goals this season already.

Ryan Jack is also currently injured. He has recently returned from a nine-month injury lay-off but has only played twice so far.
