Chris Sutton takes swipe at Rangers on Twitter after Europa League draw v Borussia Dortmund

Chris Sutton has mocked Rangers on Twitter after they were drawn against German giants Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League knockout stage.

Taking place on Monday afternoon following the controversial Champions League draw in the morning that has seen UEFA announce plans to restage the draw, Sutton took the opportunity to poke fun at the Gers on his personal Twitter profile.

He wrote: “Rangers may want the Europa draw redone as well. Tough draw against Dortmund…”

Big tie

The reaction from Sutton was probably rather inevitable – Rangers fans just knew the ex-Celtic striker was going to attempt some wisecrack joke.

Unfortunately for him, Bears have the last laugh as Sutton’s old side failed to progress into the knockout stage of the competition and will have to accept being dropped down into the Europa Conference League.

Rangers, meanwhile, will face a mouthwatering tie against Bundesliga side Dortmund, who possess the world-class talents of Erling Haaland in attack.

Attempting to contain the Norwegian star could prove an impossible mission for Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his side, but the only way to improve is by competing testing oneself and competing against the best, and Haaland is certainly among the finest talents in the world.

What will be of huge excitement to Rangers fans, though, is the atmosphere that will be created by the two ties against Dortmund.

Both clubs are renowned for having incredible atmospheres at their stadiums, and Rangers fans will be sure to enjoy their visit to Germany.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are set to launch a January bid for this 22-year-old attacker who has a £3.4m release clause.
