Kenny Miller blown away by Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor

Kenny Miller has showered heaps of praise on Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor during Sunday’s Scottish Premiership clash against Hearts.

Rangers won 2-0 against Hearts with goals coming from Alfredo Morelos and Joe Aribo.

Hearts played really well (enjoying 58% possession) and created some very good chances but McGregor made some spectacular saves in the first half and ensured the Gers maintained their lead at the break.

Miller said to BBC Sport: “That’s why McGregor is there, for the big moments. When he’s called upon, he’s right on his game-making big saves.”

Amazing performance

The incident Miller was talking about happened in the first half, around the 42nd minute.

Cammy Devlin played out a slick pass to Liam Boyce in behind the Rangers defence but the striker couldn’t get his shot past McGregor.

The 39-year-old was alert to the task and put the ball wide.

Also, in the 3rdminute of the game, Boyce tried to lob past McGregor but he produced a magnificent save to deny him.

In the 16th minute, McGregor showed great presence of mind to collect a ball quickly from the feet of Josh Ginnelly with the winger’s touch being too heavy.

Later in the second half, McGregor picked up a yellow card for time-wasting, but overall, he was outstanding during the game.

In the 85th min, McGregor pulled off a magnificent double save to deny Hearts coming back into the game.

With this win, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has now won five of his opening six games after he took charge, the other one being a draw.
