Rangers official partner takes swipe at Celtic ahead of final EL game

Rangers’ official media partner – Heart and Hand podcast – couldn’t stop themselves from taking swipe at Celtic ahead of their final Europa League game.

The Gers, who have already qualified along with Lyon, face each other in France, and it’s a dead-rubber tie.

The only interesting aspect about the game is that the managers can experiment with young talents and fringe players, and make their own observations.

Heart and Hand wrote on Twitter: “So many dead rubbers for the British sides this week in Europe. Oh and Celtic, albeit for different reasons to those of us who qualified.”

In the Champions League, British clubs – Liverpool, Chelsea, and both the Manchester clubs – had already qualified ahead of their final game.

Likewise, West Ham have already progressed through to the knock-out stages ahead of their clash against Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday.

Celtic, meanwhile, have failed to qualify for the knock-out rounds of the Europa League this season.

Plenty of changes

Rangers will be without their fans for the trip to Lyon, but the players will be motivated to put up a strong performance for them.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has made a strong start at Rangers, winning all of the four matches so far.

Although he would like to maintain the winning momentum, in this case, the Dutchman will be more interested to give chances to the non-regulars at the club.

For instance, the highly-rated Nathan Patterson, who is yet to play under Van Bronckhorst, could get a chance to impress his new manager.

Rangers secured qualification after beating Sparta Prague 2-0 last month in Van Bronckhorst’s first game in charge.

In other Rangers news, the club have confirmed a new addition to their academy staff.
