Lyon Super Fan previews Rangers game

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Super Fans on upcoming Rangers games. Ahead of Rangers’ game against Olympique Lyon in the Europa League, we caught up with Lyon Super Fan Jean-Loup Berzi from the official Lyon fans’ forum.

Lyon host Rangers in the final Europa League game of the group tonight, and on the face of it, the match means nothing

The French side have cruised through to the next round and have won every single game.

Meanwhile, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side are into the knockout rounds of the competition.

However, just because this game means very little on the face of it, that doesn’t mean we are in for a bore draw or anything like that.

Berzi predicts an exciting match. He has been a Lyon Super Fan since 1998, and we want to thank him for the answers he provided.

What are you expecting from this game?

Tonight’s game is very difficult to forecast. Though we think that Lyon’s potential is far superior to Rangers, the team is already on the way to the final rounds, and we don’t know anything about the team’s dedication for this game.

What has happened to Lyon since the first game?

OL’s situation in the League has been getting far worse since the first game vs Rangers, but we can’t know how teams can behave during different competitions. As far as I know, Rangers are already on their way to the final rounds, too, so I don’t really know what we should expect from this game.

What do you think of GvB’s impact?

Rangers is a great club; they were able to recover well from being downgraded to D4. I’m sure van Bronckhorst and Roy Makaay, both fantastic ex-players, will do a good job to enable the club to keep the higher rank in the SPFL. The team seems a bit short to perform on EL level yet.

If you could have any player from Rangers, who would it be?

Morelos is, for me, the clutch player (and the most dangerous player) of the team. A fast and powerful striker who can do well at a higher level.

Score prediction?

2-2.

So, if Berzi is right, we are in for an entertaining game as both teams might play with a bit more freedom as they know they are through to the next round.

Hopefully, this is an entertaining game, and it would be nice if GB could keep up his unbeaten start to life as Gers boss.

In other Rangers news, Moussa Dembele has had his say on the game tonight.
