Michael Beale reacts as Zeb Jacobs is appointed Rangers Academy Head of Coaching

Rangers have confirmed the appointment of Zeb Jacobs in the role of Head of Coaching within their Academy from 1st January 2022.

The 26-year-old will join them from Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp where he was Talent Co-ordinator and Head of Development in their academy, and Michael Beale has taken to his personal Twitter account to react to the news.

The former Rangers first-team coach left for Aston Villa with Steven Gerrard in November, but he is still keeping tabs on things going on at Ibrox.

He said: “Congratulations, Zeb Jacobs. Great to see this next step in your career.

“You are joining a wonderful club and group of people.”

Great appointment

Zeb, a former Belgian youth international player, is highly regarded as one of the best in Europe when it comes to developing youngsters, and the Scottish Premiership giants are already looking ahead to the future as far as having solid players is concerned.

Head of Academy, Craig Mulholland, revealed on the club’s website that Beale played a huge role in the appointment of the young coach, dubbing him a “modern and innovative coach and coach educator who pushes boundaries and thinks differently.”

Rangers

Rangers chose Zeb after speaking with several coaches across Europe, and they are convinced his understanding of how young people learn and his creative teaching methodologies will come in very handy.

Rangers have some highly-rated youngsters, but the first-team only boast of Nathan Patterson as their most recent academy graduate pushing for regular senior team football.

Hopefully, Zeb’s appointment can help improve their fortunes in that area going forward.
