Colorado Rapids attacker Dantouma Toure trains at Rangers

Colorado Rapids winger Dantouma Toure has recently been training at Rangers, according to US journalist Brian Sciaretta.

Writing via his personal Twitter profile on Tuesday evening (7 December), Sciaretta, who regularly appears on talkSPORT, claims the teenager is currently in Europe.

He said: “I heard Colorado Rapids homegrown winger Dantouma Toure, 17, is doing offseason training with a bunch of European teams. Was recently at Rangers, now training with Arsenal. Born in Guinea, Toure has played for USYNT’s in the past.”

Teen talent

Toure only turned 17 in June but he has already made his MLS debut for Rapids, appearing as a substitute against San Jose Earthquakes the following month (18 July).

The Colorado Rapids Twitter account welcomed his arrival by calling him ‘Yaya Toure’, a nickname the MLS Soccer website has also alluded to.

Padraig Smith, Colorado’s executive VP & general manager, hailed the “powerful and explosive” attacker earlier this year (4 March).

Toure spent time on loan at Colorado Springs Switchbacks last season, his parent club’s affiliate side, scoring three goals in 22 appearances in the USL Championship.

He is eligible to play international football for Guinea but, so far, has opted to turn out for the USA at junior level.

Arsenal now able to take a close look at the teenager, though his appearance at clubs could just be for him to continue training.

Rangers may have to be quick and present an offer if they were suitably impressed by Toure in training.
