BBC pundit makes prediction over Connor Goldson Rangers future

Andy Halliday believes that Connor Goldson’s contract standoff has taken too long and it could result in him leaving Rangers.

There were reports that the 28-year-old has rejected an extension at the club, which were denied by the club’s official media partners Heart and Hand.

However, Halliday, a BBC pundit, believes that the negotiations have been going on for far too long.

Speaking on Open Goal, about the possibility of him leaving, he said, “I do think that the contract talks have been going on for a while now.

“These things do take time but this seems as if it is a lot of time. I do think centre half has been an area of the pitch where Rangers have struggled this year.”

Sort it out soon

Halliday is right, this stand-off has been going on for far too long and with a few months left on his deal, it’s not a position Rangers want to be in.

They have been smart with their ins and outs in the past and would not want to risk losing one of their better players for free.

If he does not want to stay, then it’s time they start looking for destinations for him in January.

He may not fetch the price they would’ve liked from his sale, but with six months left, any sum will be welcomed by the defending champions.

For far too long, there’s been uncertainty surrounding the Englishman’s future.

With Premier League sides lurking, if he’s made his mind up to leave, then the club must accept his decision and start looking for suitable replacements.
