Rangers not in race to sign PSG wonderkid Xavi Simons

Rangers are not interested in signing PSG starlet Xavi Simons in January 2022 despite severe speculation.

The Scottish Sun claim that the Gers are not one of the clubs who are in the running for the 18-year-old former Barcelona academy graduate as his exit nears.

This is despite claims from TEAMtalk, who said that Simons was on the Gers’ wishlist.

However, if the Scottish Sun are correct, that doesn’t look like it will be the case, and Giovanni van Bronckhorst must have other targets in mind instead.

Rumours quickly extinguished.

The 18-year-old is a midfielder and has been described as a “jewel” by Marca in the past, so he clearly has a lot of talent, and it would be fascinating to see how he would do in Scotland.

It should also be remembered that just because one outlet claims the deal is off, it doesn’t mean that is the case.

Therefore, this could still be one to keep an eye on in January and he could be a very exciting addition.

Certainly, you would think that van Bronckhorst will be thinking about the January transfer window now, and it will be intriguing to see what types of signings he targets.

Simons looks like a superb prospect, and given that he is a midfielder, he could be what the Gers need.

Steven Davis isn’t getting any younger, and someone like Simons could add some energy into the Bears’ midfield as van Bronckhorst imposes his style on the side.

So, with conflicting reports circulating, we wouldn’t want to make a call on this one either way just yet.
