Scott Arfield dropped: Rangers confirm starting XI v Hibernian

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has made one change to the Rangers starting line-up as they get ready to take on Hibernian at Easter Road on Wednesday night.

As confirmed on the Gers’ official Twitter account prior to kick-off in the Scottish Premiership clash, van Brockhorst has opted to axe Scott Arfield despite his good goalscoring form and replace him with Steven Davis.

Interestingly, Kemar Roofe is back in the matchday squad as he appears on the bench after a short spell on the sidelines with an injury.

No one needs reminding of what happened when he plays Hibs last so we’re expecting a massive change in fortunes for our league meeting in Edinburgh this week.

Both teams will have pressure on them to succeed with Jack Ross’ side knowing that people will be backing them after their Scottish League Cup semi-final win at Hampden Park. Whereas with van Bronckhorst, the pressure is always on Rangers.

Hibs’ league form has been bad though.

While they beat St Johnstone at the weekend, the capital club have just two wins in nine and go into this game in sixth position in the table.

Rangers, on the other hand, are showing massive signs of improvement already under van Bronckhorst with routing wins over Sparta Prague and Livingston in his first two matches at the helm.

It’s going to be an interesting match under the lights at Easter Road but we’ve got full faith in Gio being able to guide this team to a straightforward victory that sees us continue to keep Celtic at least four points off the pace.

In other Rangers news, Aston Villa want to sign a player from the Gers who van Bronckhorst has only recently thrown back into the squad.
