Scott Arfield returns, Rangers confirm starting XI v Livingston
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has made one change to Rangers’ starting line-up to play Livingston at Almondvale on Sunday afternoon.
Van Bronckhorst takes charge of his first Scottish Premiership clash as the Gers’ new manager and has opted to axe senior midfielder Steven Davis and replace him with Scott Arfield as his only change from the win over Sparta Prague on Thursday.
Rangers confirmed the team news via their official Twitter account prior to kick-off. Interestingly, Jermain Defoe is on the bench to make a matchday squad for just the second time this season.
After winning against Sparta Prague and ensuring a second-placed finish in our Europa League group, it’s vital that this bunch of players gets some consistency and some momentum now.
We’re closing in on a very busy period and we need to make sure we stay top of the pile in the Premiership ahead of Gio’s first Old Firm derby with Celtic on January 2.
Before that game, we have testing clashes against Hibernian, Hearts and Dundee United so it’s paramount that we build on the win over Sparta and start by beating Livingston on Sunday.
Going behind is unacceptable. Conceding is unacceptable. A nervy 1-0 win will be unacceptable.
Rangers have to win this match convincingly because we’ve had so many games this season where we’ve scraped a win by one goal or had to work hard to come from behind.
Results have been there but the performances haven’t. Thankfully, the result and the performance were both there on Thursday.
But we need that to happen again on Sunday when we travel to Livi.
In other Rangers news, a Sky Sports journalist has gone berserk over what was said about this Ibrox star.
