Rangers hope to add Zeb Jacobs to coaching staff soon

Rangers are understood to be closing in on bringing Royal Antwerp head of youth development Zeb Jacobs to Ibrox, according to Belgian outlet Gazet van Antwerpen.

Jacobs, despite being only 26, is viewed as one of the best at his trade in Belgium.

Along with being in charge of their development, he is also the talent coordinator at Antwerp.

GvB wave hits Ibrox

Steven Gerrard’s departure for Aston Villa saddened many at the Ibrox and what made things worse was that he took his key coaches with him to the Premier League.

It thus became paramount for Rangers to hire someone who would come with his own set of coaches or at least have connections with some quality ones who could help take the current crop of players to the next level.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has already started to make these changes behind the scenes and Jacobs is understood to be someone he wanted at the club.

Having failed to establish himself as a professional player, he turned to coaching and has done a phenomenal job thus far.

We’re unsure as to what sort of role he will play at the club, but what’s guaranteed is that he will bring something different and we hope we plays a role in their short and long-term success.

There’s no timeline yet put on his arrival but Rangers are understood to be seriously interested and want to complete his appointment soon.
