Trevor Sinclair tips Postecoglou to get better of Van Bronckhorst
Rangers were handed a 3-1 defeat by Hibernian in the semi-finals of the League Cup on Sunday, and Trevor Sinclair has slammed their new boss.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst replaced Steven Gerrard last week, and while he could not get a work permit in time to take charge of the Bears at Hampden Park, the talkSPORT pundit insists he simply avoided managing his side against Hibs.
The Dutchman was in the stands for the game, with the quartet of David McCallum, Brian Gilmour, Colin Stewart and Jermain Defoe taking control of proceedings.
Sinclair took to his personal Twitter account after the game to react to the result.
He said: “How could Van Bronckhorst not want to manage his team today?
“I fancy Ange to destroy him this season.”
GvB is not able to do anything as he is not permitted to work in Scotland just yet, and he clearly was not willing to interrupt whatever plans the interim management had in mind.
We would never know whatever discussion he had with them behind-the-scenes, or if any took place at all.
He is yet to get his own team on board, so he would most likely not have been able to have any say on tactics or team selection for Sunday’s game.
Rangers were not in haste to appoint someone for the Hibs clash, and the Celtic in Sinclair was what inspired his dig at van Bronckhorst.
The new Light Blues boss is ready to start work and should be on the touchline for Thursday’s Europa League clash with Sparta Prague.
The Hoops will love what is happening at Ibrox at the moment, but they could be making a mistake if they reckon that would boost their title chances.
The former Feyenoord boss has the experience, quality and crew to hit the ground running, and it would not be surprising if he helps Rangers retain the title.
In other Rangers news, The Athletic has shared if billionaire wants to buy the Bears after major development this month.
