Roy Makaay to join Giovanni van Bronckhorst at Rangers as assistant manager
Roy Makaay is set to join Rangers as one of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s assistant managers at Ibrox.
The Bears confirmed their new manager on Thursday evening, and all attention was instantly set on his backroom staff.
Makaay enjoyed a legendary career, and Marcel van der Kraan shared the news on Sky Sports this evening.

Graeme Hanna shared the news on his personal Twitter account as excitement started to grow in Glasgow.
“Breaking – Roy Makaay to be one of GvB’s assistants at Ibrox,” he wrote.
“Revealed by Marcel van der Kraan right now on Sky Sports News, yes please.”
Wow.
We all expected some big names through the door at Ibrox, but what an appointment this would be alongside van Bronckhorst.
The former striker has a goal machine in his playing days, especially at Bayern Munich and Deportivo.
His appointment will no doubt excite the likes of Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe but could leave Jermain Defoe nervous.
There have already been doubts surrounding his future at Ibrox, and this isn’t going to sit well with him moving forward.
Based on the fact that none of this was actually confirmed, we would assume that van Bronckhorst is unlikely to be in the dugout against Hibernian.
It will give him time to prepare his own team at Auchenhowie and get used to the entire squad ahead of that huge European clash against Sparta Prague – what a first game that could be.
In other Rangers news, this coach could be set to follow van Bronckhorst to Ibrox this week
