Ross Wilson reveals when GvB will manage Rangers for the first time

Ross Wilson confirms that Giovanni van Bronckhorst will not be in the dugout for the Rangers game on Sunday.

Speaking to the club’s official Twitter page after confirming the Dutchman as Steven Gerrard’s replacement, Wilson confirmed that van Bronckhorst wouldn’t be in charge on Sunday.

However, he will be watching the game against Hibernian from the stands, and Wilson hinted that he would be in the dugout very soon.

He didn’t mention why but given the supposed work permit problems, you would have to say they could be responsible [Sky Sports].

He said: “I think they’ll expect to see him in Glasgow soon, I’m not going to put a date on that, but he’ll be with us very soon.

“He will be in the dugout soon.

“He won’t be in the dugout at Hampden, but we expect him to be at the game; in fact, I’m sure he’ll be at the game.”

Van Bronckhorst not involved straight away.

Given the speed that this deal has happened, it probably isn’t too much of a surprise to see van Bronckhorst miss the Hibs match.

However, it sounds as if he should be there to watch his new side and make some judgements on the players and the squad that he will have at his disposal.

The Dutchman seems like the ideal candidate to take over from Gerrard as he has played at Ibrox and has built a solid reputation as a manager.

Rangers

So, there could be some exciting times ahead for the Gers under van Bronckhorst’s guidance.

It is a shame that he won’t be in the dugout on Sunday, but hopefully, he will be ready to come in for the Sparta Prague game.

That seems like a sensible date, and it gives him a week to sort out everything, take his place, and start a new chapter in Rangers’ history.
