Rangers poised to unveil van Bronckhorst as their new manager, deal now in place
Rangers are poised to unveil Giovanni van Bronckhorst as their new manager, according to Glasgow Evening Times journalist Chris Jack.
Writing on the newspaper’s website, Jack reported on Wednesday night that after “extensive talks” with van Bronckhorst, 46, in England and Holland “a deal is now in place for him to put pen-to-paper”.
It is understood that van Bronckhorst’s return to Ibrox is now expected to be confirmed “sooner rather than later”.

Almost there
Is Thursday going to be the day that Rangers officially confirm van Bronckhorst as their new manager?
A lot has been going on behind the scenes in the last last few days and as it’s unlikely anything will be made official on Friday due to Walter Smith’s memorial, the best bet for an announcement is Thursday unless they wait until Saturday.
Even if the deal isn’t completely rubber-stamped, the Gers may get an announcement out just to appease a group of fans that may be starting to get worried by the dragging out of this process.
Van Bronckhorst still has to get into the country, get a work permit, meet his new players, pose for pictures for the media and so on. But once he’s actually signed a contract – which can happen in the Netherlands – he’s ours, and the rest is just a formality.
Then starts the hard work with two massive games on the horizon against Hibernian in the Scottish League Cup semi-final and Sparta Prague in the Europa League.
Win those and Gio will be on his way to being an Ibrox hero for sure.
In other Rangers news, a BBC journalist has mooted a potential issue that could cause a delay in announcing van Bronckhorst.
