Rangers could look to sign Danilho Doekhi
According to reports from the Daily Record, Rangers could target Danilho Doekhi if they appoint Giovanni van Bronckhorst as their next manager.
The 23-year-old plays for Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem. He has made eight appearances in the Eredivisie this season, scoring one goal. He has also scored one goal in the Europa Conference League.
His contract at the club is set to expire at the end of the season, and the Gers could snap him up as a replacement for Conor Goldson should he refuse to sign a new deal.
Gio, who is close to becoming the next manager at Rangers, could be forced to operate on a tight budget, considering the club’s financial plight.
Defensive reinforcement
Turning a profit in the transfer market is one area that Rangers will be looking at, and that is where Gio’s natural knowledge of the Eredivisie will come as immense help. He knows there are some hidden gems in the league, and they could be plucked at bargain deals.
Doekhi has been previously targeted by Rangers, and Gio’s potential arrival could help them land the 23-year-old from Vitesse.
The centre-back is one area that looks in dire need of reinforcement. Goldson, who was hailed as “magnificent” by Gerrard, is yet to sign a new deal. Helander will enter the final year of his deal, while Nikola Katic is currently on loan away to revive his career.
Jack Simpson has failed to impress. It’s obvious that one or two centre-backs is required. Doekhi would be a smart signing for the Gers.
