Announcement could be today: Rangers on verge of van Bronckhorst appointment
Rangers are set to announce Giovanni van Bronckhorst as their new manager today (Thursday), according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported on Wednesday night that van Bronckhorst is likely to be announced as Steven Gerrard’s successor at Ibrox within the next 24 hours after further negotiations.
It is understood that on Wednesday night, talks were focused on who will join van Bronckhorst’s backroom staff at Ibrox while contract details and transfer strategy was discussed when a Gers delegated jetted out to the Netherlands on Tuesday.

Get your phone on loud
Whether you’re at work, lounging around at home, out at the shops or in a library – turn your phone off silent.
It seems as though Rangers could announce van Bronckhorst as their new manager at any minute and no one wants to be the last to find out.
Van Bronckhorst will be a real coup for the Gers, who are already on track to win their 56th league title.

As well as that, Gio will be expected to rescue us in the Europa League and secure a win against Sparta Prague next week in what could be his first match in charge at Ibrox.
He may not be in the dugout on Sunday when we play Hibernian in the Scottish League Cup semi-final but overseeing a win in that match would be the perfect start for the former Feyenoord manager – whether he’s in the stands or not.
If Gio takes us into December as the league leaders who are in a domestic cup final and headed to post-Christmas European football then he will already have had a brilliant start.
Let’s hope that is the case.
In other Rangers news, a BBC journalist has raised a potential issue with van Bronckhorst being hired.
