Official Rangers partner rubbishes Daily Record update on offer to hire Giovanni van Bronckhorst

Follow Follow fanzine editor Mark Dingwall has rubbished a story by the Daily Record which shares an update on Rangers’ bid to hire Giovanni van Bronckhorst as their new manager.

Keith Jackson wrote on the newspaper’s website that van Bronckhorst is unlikely to be in the dugout when the Gers play Hibernian at Hampden Park on Sunday as it will take over 24 hours for an offer in writing to be made to the Dutchman.

However, official Rangers media partner Dingwall reports that certain aspects of Jackson’s story simply aren’t correct.

“Flew in on Tuesday – wrong,” said Dingwall via his personal Twitter account in direct response to the Daily Record’s exclusive.

“Met on the outskirts of the city – wrong.

“Will take 24 hours to make [an] offer in writing – wrong.”

If the Daily Record are getting their information from somewhere then it’s unlikely that their information is coming out of Rangers.

There’s been a feud between the Gers and the newspaper for many years and since Steven Gerrard’s exit to Aston Villa, there’s been a couple of their stories rubbished by official media partners of the Scottish champions.

Sure, different journalists have different sources but if their source isn’t Rangers then there’s a chance some of the details will be wrong or not the complete truth.

In this case, it seems that Jackson’s been wide of the mark on how some of the talks went down with van Bronckhorst.

While there may be some truth in his story, we’re fairly confident that van Bronckhorst will be the man to replace Gerrard as our manager.

He may not be in the dugout on Sunday for the Scottish League Cup semi-final clash with Hibs but the Dutchman may well be in the stands at Hampden Park.

And if that’s the case, he should be in charge of Rangers properly by the time they welcome Sparta Prague to Ibrox next week for a massive match in the Europa League.

In other Rangers news, this central midfielder who’s already been linked with Ibrox was handed his senior debut by van Bronckhorst.
