Giovanni van Bronckhorst sets out January transfer window demand as Rangers manager talks ensue

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is seeking reassurances from Rangers that he will have money to spend in the January transfer window, according to the Scottish Sun.

The Dutchman held further talks with Rangers officials in Amsterdam on Tuesday as the parties built upon Saturday’s meeting in Glasgow.

He now expects to find out over the next 24 hours whether his pursuit of the Ibrox job has been successful.

Money, money, money

It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that van Bronckhorst wants a transfer budget to be able to add his own players to the current Rangers squad.

As talented as it is, new managers always want to put their stamp on proceedings and alter the style somewhat.

There is also the danger that the Gers may lose some of their stars in January with Steven Gerrard reported to be glancing in the direction of Ibrox as he bids to take some to new club Aston Villa.

Rangers’ financial situation may also dictate events as money could be raised from players sales.

That, in turn, could affect van Bronckhorst’s transfer budget.

Whether it is through a player sale, or two, or raised through additional means, van Bronckhorst will surely be wanting to sign some players during the winter transfer window, and that could be the clinching factor to getting a deal done over the next few days.

If the 46-year-old is confident the Gers will make moves in January, then he may well sign on the spot to be the next manager.
