Fabrizio Romano shares Rangers – Giovanni van Bronckhorst agreement update

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Giovanni van Bronckhorst becoming the next manager of Rangers is a “serious possibility”.

While speaking to Rio Ferdinand Presents Five podcast, Romano has suggested that it could be resolved within a day or two.

The transfer guru is hopeful that Gio will become Rangers’ new manager after Steven Gerrard departed to Aston Villa.

The Dutchman is a favourite among the fans and has been the leading candidate for the vacant job, although the Gers did consider other options.

He was spotted in London at the weekend where he held positive talks with the club, and now it seems he will get the job.

“I’m told that talks with Giovanni van Bronckhorst are progressing so well in the last hours. It’s not done yet. But talks are going so well,” said Romano.

“They had two meetings with Gio. It’s a serious possibility. Let’s see if today or tomorrow it will be resolved, but it’s a serious possibility.”

It seems pretty obvious now that Gio will take charge of Rangers, unless there’s a dramatic change of events.

There have been others whose names popped up in the media, but the 46-year-old emerged out as favourites for the job.

Being a former player, he knows the club very well, and understands what is expected of him. Likewise, he has previous managerial experience as well.

At the moment, it seems the deal hasn’t been struck yet, but it looks like his return to Ibrox could happen before this weekend.

Nowadays, signings documents is not a lengthy process, but it seems Rangers still have some work to do before they can make it official.

Earlier today, Dutch journalist, Mikos Gouka claimed that GvB won’t be in charge against Hibernian on Sunday.

However, we’re very confident that he will be Gerrard’s replacement, and it is only a matter of time for the deal to go through.

In other Rangers news, a Celtic director has apologised for what he said about the Gers in an obituary for Walter Smith.
