Sky Sports: Rangers hold further talks with Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Tuesday

Rangers are holding further talks with Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Tuesday over the vacant managerial role, according to Sky Sports News.

In a video relayed via the Football Daily Twitter account, presenter Hayler McQueen shared some breaking news regarding the Gers.

“A bit of breaking news comes from Scotland concerning Rangers,” McQueen said. “Sky Sports News have been told that Giovanni van Bronckhorst is having further talks with Rangers about the vacant managerial position since, of course, Steven Gerrard left to take up the position at Aston Villa.

“It’s understood he is not the only candidate, though.

“The club are pleased with the progress they are making.”

It’s at the stage now where anyone other than van Bronckhorst succeeding Gerrard as Rangers manager would be a massive surprise.

Ronald Koeman and Frank Lampard are just two big names that have been linked with the job, the former’s name particularly coming into the running on Tuesday, but it seems that the stage is set for van Bronckhorst’s emotional return to Ibrox.

Earlier on Tuesday, a jet arrived into Glasgow and was greeted by two Rangers officials, and that created mass hysteria as to who was inside.

Now, it appears highly likely that it was indeed van Bronckhorst and his representatives as they probably seek to thrash out the final terms of his Rangers contract.

The Gers face a huge League Cup semi-final clash with Hibernian at Ibrox on Sunday, and the race is on for the Dutchman to be in place and, ideally, take at least one training session at Auchenhowie beforehand.

Van Bronckhorst appears to be the most popular candidate among Bears so this is likely to be one of the most agreeable decisions made around Ibrox for quite some time.

In other Rangers news, the club’s stance on this ex-Swansea man has been shared after manager talks were held.
