Charlie Nicholas: Giovanni van Bronckhorst perfect for Rangers
Rangers are looking to appoint a successor for Steven Gerrard after he left for Aston Villa, and many names have been linked with the job already.
Charlie Nicholas is watching with keen interest as the Scottish Premiership giants aim to get the perfect man in, and he wants them to go after Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
Rangers have held talks with the Dutchman, and they are also weighing up other options, but Nicholas insists the former Bears star is the right man for the gig.

Nicholas wrote in the Scottish Daily Express: “As a player and a coach, van Bronckhorst has done well and he has done it with style at a difficult club in Feyenoord where the demands are constantly there.
“I have played and been involved with Feyenoord through the years and they are a top Dutch club but they never seem to be far away from one crisis or another.
“There is an expectation on Feyenoord from their fans and, like the Rangers supporters, they are very vocal.
“It seems he already has the Rangers fans on-side from his time as a player and if I was on the Rangers board then van Bronckhorst is the one I would go for.”
Spot on
It seems appointing the former Feyenoord boss is a matter of when and not if, but nothing is guaranteed yet as the Ibrox outfit are taking their time and seemingly not in a rush to get an appointment sorted.
The likes of Frank Lampard and Derek McInnes have all been linked with the job, but van Bronckhorst is the fans’ favourite, and it is not just because of emotional reunion.
The Dutchman did a fine job in the Eredivisie and will not have an issue coping with the constant pressure that comes with managing Rangers.

He won the title with them in 2016-17 – their first in 18 years – adding two KNVB Cups and Johan Cruyff Shields to his name before leaving for Guangzhou City last year, and he will understand exactly what is required of him at Ibrox.
He also won a Premier League with Arsenal during his playing days.
Taking such a job midway through the campaign could be tricky given what is at stake, but he has the needed experience and quality to take charge of such a delicate situation.
